Overview
"Iron Man 3" is a 2013 American superhero film featuring the Marvel Comics character Iron Man. It was produced by Kevin Feige of Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. As the sequel to 2008's "Iron Man" and 2010's "Iron Man 2," it marks the seventh installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and is the first major release in the franchise since "The Avengers." Directed by Shane Black, who co-wrote the screenplay with Drew Pearce, the film incorporates elements from Warren Ellis's "Extremis" story arc. Robert Downey Jr. returns as the titular character, joined by Gwyneth Paltrow and Don Cheadle, who reprise their roles as Pepper Potts and James Rhodes, respectively. Jon Favreau, the director of the first two films, serves as an executive producer and reprises his role as Happy Hogan. The principal cast also includes Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Stephanie Szostak, James Badge Dale, and Ben Kingsley.
