Real Reason Why Saif Ali Khan & Amrita Singh's Marriage Ended

The Bollywood film industry has had many scandalous romances, but the romance of Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh is still the most discussed affair. Nothing about the relationship between Saif and Amrita was ordinary, so of course their love story was extraordinary.

The former couple had opposing backgrounds, which became a major reason for their split after fourteen years together. From marrying in spite of a twelve-year age difference to going through a difficult divorce, Saif and Amrita's relationship is still seen as one of the most romantic, yet contentious, unions of all time.

In spite of their large age difference, Amrita and Saif were devoted to one another and got married in October 1991. Amrita, who was 33 at the time, and Saif, who was 21, had a daughter, Sara Ali Khan, four years later and a son, Ibrahim Ali Khan, two years later. Amrita gave up her job to look after her family, yet it wasn't enough to keep the marriage together.

Despite no official explanation being offered as to why Saif and Amrita ended their 13-year-marriage, many people have speculated that Saif's infidelity and the couple's waning feelings for each other were responsible for their parting.

Additionally, there have been rumors that Saif's closeness to Italian dancer and model Rosa Catalona had a role in the separation. However, in 2005 Saif dismissed such claims and was quoted as saying that Amrita's altered attitude towards him and his family had caused the rift.

He further revealed that he had agreed to give Amrita ₹5 crores, and had already paid her ₹2.5 crores, as well as ₹1 lakh per month until his son turns 18.

Following their difficult divorce, the two went their separate ways and chose to progress in their lives. Saif became enamored with Kareena and got married to her, whereas Amrita opted to remain single and look after her children Sara and Ibrahim.
