Vicky Kaushal in talks to play legendary hockey player Dhyan Chand in upcoming biopic

Vicky Kaushal and Ronnie Screwvala team up once again for Abhishek Chaubey's upcoming film

Director Abhishek Chaubey was officially announced by producer Ronnie Screwvala to helm the biopic of legendary hockey player Dhyan Chand, known as the "Hockey Wizard of India". Despite earlier reports of Ishaan Khatter being cast as the lead, it has now been revealed that he is no longer part of the project, and the makers have been in talks with Vicky Kaushal for the lead role for some time. The biopic will showcase Dhyan Chand's incredible achievements, including 1500+ goals and 3 Olympic gold medals, making him a source of immense pride for India.

According to a source familiar with the matter, Vicky Kaushal was thoroughly impressed by the story and is enthusiastic about the project. Although the discussions between the actor and the makers have been ongoing for a while, they have now reached an advanced stage. Both parties are eager to collaborate on the film, but final decisions regarding the shooting schedule and other formalities will be made after the completion of Sam Bahadur. This will be Vicky Kaushal's fourth project with Ronnie Screwvala, following Love per Square Foot, Uri: The Surgical Strike, and Sam Bahadur. They were also expected to work together on The Immortal Ashwatthama, but there is currently uncertainty surrounding that project.
