In Tamil Cinema, Varisu Wins The Battle Against Thuniva 

The big box office battle in Tamil cinema has gone to Varisu as it has surpassed the competition Thinuva over the holiday season in Tamil Nadu. Over the last few days despite being 2 crore less on day one, Varisu was earning around 1 crore more than Thuniva . 

The other markets have seen a comfortable lead for Varisu though in Hindi markets despite the fact that there is no dubbed version of Thuniva but the original Tamil film is still around 50 lakhs behind. The best performance is without a doubt in Nizam / Andhra where the movie has done excellent business over three days and that is with competition of huge original Telugu movies.

The big holiday period in Tamil Nadu is now over, and collections will fall, but both have done very well in the home market thus far. The total collection for the first seven days in India is approximately 80 crore nett for Thuniva and 108 crore nett for Varisu. The territory numbers for Thuniva and Varisu are listed below.
