Varisu, starring Thalapthy Vijay and Rashmika Mandanna, premiered in theatres on January 11, 2023. Fans of both the stars gave the movie rousing accolades upon its release, describing it as a blockbuster. It competed with the movie Thunivu starring Ajith Kumar and Manju Warrier. It was able to perform reasonably well at the box office in spite of the stiff competition. It appears that the movie is having some issues in Karnataka, though. According to sources, Karnataka has cancelled the Varisu concerts.
Varisu's gigs were cancelled; why?
According to a News18 report, attendance at Varisu's events in Bengaluru significantly decreased. The number of tests decreased to 466 on day two from 757 on day one. If the rumours are to be true, Rashmika Mandanna is somewhat to blame for the situation because it is thought that her previous remarks may have had an impact on the Karnataka box office for Varisu.
Rishab Shetty and Rashmika Mandanna's falling out has been the subject of much talk. Rashmika Mandanna's admission that she hadn't watched Kantara set the whole thing off. Due to Kantara's reputation as one of the best movies ever made, she received criticism for the same. Later, a video surfaced in which Rashmika failed to mention the production company responsible for her debut. She made her acting debut in the Rishab-directed film Kirik Party, which also starred Rakshit Shetty and other actors. Rishab Shetty even uploaded a flashback photo to commemorate the movie's six-year anniversary, however he did not include Rashmika Mandanna in the post.
Rashmika Mandanna had already talked about being barred from Kannada movies. I don't think I've been blacklisted, she reportedly said. Overreactions started to occur. It had only been two days following Kantara's discharge when they questioned me about her. People are free to interpret my words whatever they choose. I'm done trying to explain it to everyone. And if I receive offers, I'm willing to work in Kannada film. She added that she had been keeping an eye on Kantara and had even messaged the team.
