Akashdeep Deka was born on September 12, 1976, in the town of Nalbari, Assam, and was brought up in a culturally rich environment of his birthplace. The small-town Assamese baund that he experienced early in life gave him a sense of deep community, tradition, and regional identity. 

He belongs to the Kalita community and subsequently earned his graduation at Gauhati University in Assam, where he developed a passion for performance and cinema. 

Career Breakthrough in Films

Akashdeep got into the business of entertainment in 2004 by releasing music video albums such as the one in the track Moromjaan. His debut movie was the next year in the Assamese film Anjana (2005), where he performed alongside Aimee Baruah and Arup Bora. 

He received immense publicity in 2006 with the film Hero, in which his acting was highly appreciated, and one of the songs in the film (Ek Chhori Ek Chhora Chupke Chupke Se Pyar) was immensely popular among the viewers. He has starred in over 20 local films over the years, such as romantic dramas, social stories, and more recent mediums such as short movies and production projects. 

Personal Life: Wife, Daughter & Family

Akashdeep got married in 2015 to fellow-Assamese actress-politician Angoorlata Deka. On 3 August 2017, the couple had a daughter, Namami Deka. 

Although the marriage was recognised publicly, some sources say that they are currently separated. Personal good and bad notwithstanding, Akashdeep has proven to be very attached to his daughter and his origin, even to the extent of giving her the name of his restaurant and the production house. 

Beyond Acting: Entrepreneurship & Politics

Akashdeep is not just an actor but an entrepreneur and a person who heavily contributes to the community. He entered politics in 2014 December 2014 by joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Assam. 

In business, he opened a restaurant with the name Namami Randhani Shal in 2022 in Assam, and in 2023, he opened his production house, Namami Productions. The two are tightly interconnected with the name of his daughter and his devotion to local storytelling.
