Career in Film and Television
Arun Govil relocated to Mumbai in 1975 to pursue his acting career. He entered the silver screen with Paheli in 1977 and remained a household name through later hits like Sawan Ko Aane Do and Saanch Ko Aanch Nahin. However, Lord Rama in Ramanand Sagar's Ramayan in 1987 brought him into stardom and made him a household name in India. He also acted in the serial Jiyo To Aise Jiyo in 1981 and worked with many other significant serials, such as Vikram Aur Betaal in 1985.
He has been part of several regional movies as well, which he made in Telugu and Oriya. His last few released movies are OMG 2 (2023) and Article 370 (2024).
Political Career
In 2024, Govil won an MP seat in the Meerut parliament by defeating the Samajwadi Party's Sunita Verma with over 10,000 votes. So, political life represents the public service that he continues with to this date.
