Born in Bhiwani in Haryana on December 26, 1973, Dr. Vikas came from a family where academics was held in high esteem. His father was a professor of Hindi literature, and his mother was a teacher at a school. They both inculcated a deep sense of respect for education within him.

Early Life

Dr. Divyakirti did his schooling at Saraswati Shishu Mandir, Haryana. He pursued his graduation from Zakir Husain Delhi College for B.Com. Since he felt inclined towards humanities, he shifted to a B.A. in History. Later, he acquired several degrees: an M.A., M.Phil., and Ph.D. in Hindi Literature, an M.A. in Sociology, L.L.B., and a Post Graduate Diploma in Hindi-English Translation.

Civil Services Journey

Having cleared the UPSC Civil Services Examination in 1996, securing an All India Rank of 384 on the very first attempt, he went to serve under the Central Secretariat Service in the Ministry of Home Affairs. However, since teaching was his passion, he left his job after a year.

Setting of Drishti IAS

It was in 1999 that Dr. Divyakirti founded Drishti IAS, a UPSC coaching center. Under his guidance, this institute has grown into a leading name in the field of coaching, with best-in-class study material and apt pedagogical methods.

Personal Life

Dr. Divyakirti is wedded to Dr. Taruna Verma, whom he had met during university days. The couple has a son named Satwik. Their commitment towards education has been the foundation of their lifework.
