Jr NTR, born as Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao, is a prominent actor in the Telugu film industry. He was born on Friday, 20 May 1983, in Hyderabad, Telangana, India, to Nandamuri Harikrishna and Shalini Bhaskar Rao. He is the grandson of legendary Telugu actor and former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (NTR).

From his father’s second marriage to Lakshmi, Jr NTR has two half-brothers — Janaki Ram, a film producer, and Nandamuri Kalyan Ram, a well-known Tollywood actor. He also has a half-sister named Nandamuri Suhasini.

Education

NTR completed his schooling at Vidyaranya High School in Hyderabad and later joined St. Mary’s College for his intermediate studies. He went on to pursue a B.Tech degree from Vignan College in Vadlamudi, Andhra Pradesh.

Early Career as a Child Artist

Jr NTR began his journey in cinema as a child actor in 1991 with Brahmarshi Vishwamitra, a film written and directed by his grandfather. His portrayal in Ramayanam (1996), a mythological drama directed by Gunasekhar, earned the film the National Film Award for Best Children’s Film.

Rise to Stardom

In 2001, Jr NTR made his debut as a lead actor with Ninnu Choodalani, directed by V. R. Prathap. His breakthrough came soon after with SS Rajamouli’s directorial debut, Student No. 1, which became a commercial success.

In 2002, his performance in Aadi, directed by V. V. Vinayak, established him as a mass hero. The film became one of the year's highest-grossing vehicles, which cemented his position in Tollywood.
