Madhoo Shah Biography
Madhoo Shah, also known as Madhoobala Raghunath Malini, was born on March 26, 1969. She is an Indian movie actress who has garnered significant achievements in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada films. Madhoo Shah rose to prominence with some of the quality films including "Phool Aur Kaante" in 1991, "Roja" in 1992, "Allari Priyudu" in 1992, "Yoddha" in 1992, and "Gentleman" in 1993.
Early Life and Education
Born to a Tamil family, Madhoo did her schooling from St. Joseph's High School in Juhu and further education from the University of Mumbai. She is also a niece of celebrated actress Hema Malini and cousin to Esha Deol.
Career Highlights
Madhoo started off when action director Veeru Devgan came to cast her in his son Ajay Devgan's debut movie, "Phool Aur Kaante." But the first film she was introduced by coming to theatres was K. Balachander's movie Azhagan which got released in 1991, with Bhanupriya as well as Mammooty. Her first jump into stardom came with the film "Roja," Mani Ratnam's magnum opus. Besides her success in Hindi, she also treaded her trail in Malayalam films as well, for example, debarked in "Ottayal Pattalam" in 1991. After taking a break from acting, she resumed her career in 2008 with the film "Kabhi Socha Bhi Na Tha." Since then, she has acted in quite a few support roles. In 2014, she marked her return to Tamil cinema with the bilingual film "Vaayai Moodi Pesavum."
Apart from acting, Madhoo has also anchored the music television series "Rangoli" since August 2019 on DD National. She worked in several television serials, such as "Kaveri," "Devi," and "Soundaravalli."
Personal Life
Madhoo married Anand Shah on February 19, 1999, whom she met during her photo shoot. They have two daughters-Amaya and Keia. Anand is Jay Mehta's cousin, who is married to actress Juhi Chawla.
