Ramsarni Mehra Kapoor was the wife of Prithviraj Kapoor and is popularly known as Ramsarni Kapoor. She was born in 1908 in a Punjabi family. Her brother Jugal Kishore Mehra was aslo an actor. She got married at a young age to Prithviraj Kapoor and it was an arranged marriage. They have six children, Raj Kapoor, Devi Kapoor, Nandi Kapoor, Shammi Kapoor, Shashi Kapoor and a daughter Urmila Sial. She lost her second and third son within the span of a week. Devi Kapoor died of double pneumonia and Nandi Kapoor passed away a week later when he accidentally swallowed rat poison pills.
As we know, Prithivraj Kapoor was into theatres and films and is also considered to be one of the founders of Indian cinemas. Both Ramsarni and Prithviraj Kapoor were suffering from cancer and died about a fortnight apart. Prithviraj died on 29 May 1972 and Ramsarni died on 14 June 1972 at the age of 64 due to cancer.
