Bollywood Blind Item: Pan India Project Might Get Delayed
This South Indian superstar rose to become a household name across the country after the blockbuster success of his action franchise. While the first film in the franchise did not break box office records, the sequel stunned trade pundits in Bollywood & even South India. His last release was three years back. His next film was slated to release on a major religious holiday next year. As per a source, the unexpected craze for a spy thriller that released a few weeks back has made the superstar reconsider his decision. The spy thriller's sequel is also scheduled to release on the same religious holiday. The superstar feels that his movie is directed by a "not so big" director, & the spy thriller was helmed by a filmmaker who seems to know the pulse of the audiences - both his movies turned out to be blockbusters. He has been asking for some changes in the script & reshoots. He is aware that the movie is not in the league of this action franchise. The audience will reject anything that isn't path-breaking, and it will be safer not to clash with the sequel to the movie of the year. Script changes will take time & it is unlikely that the movie will be able to release on its scheduled date.
The superstar's two pan India releases were directed by a hugely talented director. The music, dialogues, style, and the way he presented the hero were something Indian audiences had never seen before. The hero had the traits of a villain, but he was shown to have a good heart. The stylized action set pieces, over the top dialogues, & good music made people forget that the protagonist was nothing but a gangster. The hero was shown to have no remorse over his illegal actions, & the audience had no issues with it. The audience will expect his next release to be of the same league. It is unlikely that his next movie will be a roaring pan India hit. Take the case of India's biggest superstar - he gave several flops after the blockbuster success of his period epic franchise, which was directed by India's biggest filmmaker. To deliver a 1000cr+ grosser is not everybody's cup of tea.
