ODI World Cup 2023: Ben Stokes return as England Announced 15 Member Squad
England have announced their 15-member squad for the ODI series against New Zealand, and the news that was floating around has turned true as Ben Stokes has returned to the side for the four-match series and the ODI World Cup 2023.
Ben Stokes announced his retirement from ODI cricket last year, and now he has turned his retirement around and is ready to play for England in the World Cup in 2023.
Although English selectors select the team just for the matches against Kiwis, most likely these players are going to represent the team in the Mage event in India. Young Harry Brook could not make his place in the side, but the ECB has not mentioned any reason for dropping him.
Here is England’s squad for the series against New Zealand:
Batsmen: Joe Root, David Malan and Jason Roy
Wicket-Kepper: Jonny Bairstow and Jos Buttler
All-Rounders: Moeen Ali, Sam Curran, Ben Stokes, Liam Livingstone, David Willey and Chris Woakes
Bowlers: Mark Wood, Adil Rashid, Reece Topley and Gus Atkinson
The English team is looking well balanced, as they have plenty of experience in their pocket, but their power is doubled now just because the 2019 World Cup hero is in their squad. Even though his bowling fitness is not up to par, the team is joyful even if he plays as a pure batter in the playing 11.
The England coach said earlier in his interview that we are happy with Ben as an established batsman and that his bowling will be a bonus for us. He also praised his superb fielding skills.
