Kapil Nagar Police Station was established on June 26, 2019. The police station falls in the highly populated area of Nagpur, Maharashtra. Senior Police Inspector (PI) Amol Aabasaheb Deshmukh is heading the station as a Police Sub-Inspector who joined in 2006. The police station has 86 staff members and 10 officials.
The jurisdiction of Kapil Nagar Police Station covers about 12 kilometers of area, between Mohammad Ali Petrol Pump and Tathagat Square from east to west and Outer Ring Road to Kamptee Road from north to south. To improve community relations, the police hold Shantata Meetings, Mohalla Meetings, and Senior Citizen Meetings to redress public grievances. They also interact with local corporators, social workers, and business owners to understand and redress issues promptly. In addition, several WhatsApp groups have been formed to communicate quickly with citizens.
In the wake of theft and nefarious activities, Kapil Nagar Police have stepped up preventive measures against known criminals, illicit liquor vends, and gambling dens. The station under the guidance of Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar and Deputy Commissioner of Police Neelotpal has invoked MPDA Act against three persons. Proposals are being moved against four others to provide safety and security to the locals.
PI Deshmukh cautions parents to keep an eye on online activities by children, particularly during online classes, to avoid cybercrime. He also appeals to citizens to install additional CCTV cameras facing the roads as most of the COC cameras are installed only on main roads while security measures are to be reinforced at a neighborhood level.
