When a fan shared photos of herself meeting Nora and Aryan on the same day and wearing the same clothes, it gave the impression that they were dating. Such images of putative Bollywood lovers were already widely available before they made their relationship public.

The rumors were also raised because Nora celebrated New Year's Eve in Dubai with Karan Johar and Aryan's sister Suhana Khan.
