Hackers is a 1995 Hollywood film starring Angelina Jolie and Jonny Lee Miller as a pair of teenage hackers who become embroiled in a corporate extortion scheme. The film, directed by Iain Softley, follows a gang of high school hackers who become embroiled in a massive scandal that began as a game of curiosity and challenge. The film was released in the 1990s, when the public was still unfamiliar with the internet.

TrackDown (TakeDown)

Joe Chappelle directed Track Down in 2000, based on the book TakeDown by John Markoff and Tsutomu Shimomura. The film follows Kevin Mitnick, a computer hacker who uses the latest technological gadgetry to get into various computers in order to obtain access to sensitive and important information, and his confrontation with Tsutomo Shimomura, a top computer crimes specialist. Kevin Mitnick is now a real-life cyber security specialist.

WarGames

WarGames is a 1983 American science fiction film about a young computer hacker who gains access to WOPR (War Operation Plan Resource) and nearly triggers World War III. The film stars Matthew Broderick, Dabney Coleman, John Wood, and Ally Sheedy and is directed by John Badham. The title of the film is appropriate since the main character, a young hacker, misinterprets WOPR as a game and spreads nuclear weapons panic over the world.

Live Free or Die hard

Live Free or Die Hard, the fourth entry in the Die Hard series, is based on cyber terrorism and cyber crime. After 12 years, Bruce Willis returns to the character of John McClane under the supervision of Len Wiseman. In the film, McClane teams up with Matt, a computer hacker played by Justin Long, to stop cyber terrorists from hacking into government and business computers across the country in order to launch a fire sale of financial assets. The film's title is inspired from New Hampshire's state motto, "Live Free or Die," and it is based on John Carlin's 1997 piece "A Farewell to Arms" for Wired Magazine.

Firewall

Firewall is a 2006 Hollywood thriller film featuring Harrison Ford as a Security Chief at Landrock Pacific Bank who is compelled to commit a $100 million bank robbery by crooks commanded by Paul Bettany. Hugh Jackman, Halle Berry, and John Travolta star in the key roles of Swordfish, a 2001 Hollywood criminal thriller. This film is directed by Dominic Sena and follows ex-con and computer hacker Stanley Jobson, who is played by Hugh Jackman, who is compelled to use his computer hacking abilities to assist with a bank robbery.
