One might imagine that bollywood stars are likely to be less superstitious, thanks to them enjoying plenty of wealth & fame. But a closer look reveals otherwise. Apart from religiously visiting the gym, the celebs also seem to turn towards religion or rather superstition to survive in the big bad world that is bollywood. After all, fortunes change every friday in showbiz. While one big hit can lead to plum projects with top filmmakers, a few flops can take you out of the A-list. Being out of the A-list not only means loss of acting offers, but also losing out on lucrative endorsement deals.

That explains why many bollywood stars have been spotted wearing different colored threads on their hands, legs or even sport rings for astrological reasons. While black thread is known to ward off evil & ngative energies, red threads are blessed by gods & protect you from harm.

1. Varun Dhawan & Akshay Kumar

Akshay Kumar has been spotted wearing a black thread on his right leg. There was a time in the 90’s when Akshay starred in 17 flops on the trot. This must have shaken Akshay & make him rely on a bit of extra luck. Varun Dhawan too seems to have bitten by this belief. He was recently spotted after a gym session, with a black thread on his right leg. The not so great performance of October, Kalank flopping & his rivals surging ahead may have made him look towards some divine intervention.

2. Amitabh Bachchan

Bollywood’s biggest star ever – Amitabh Bachchan too believes in the power of astrology & religious threads. He is always seen sporting a red thread on his right hand, apart from three rings. The rings are said to be for astrological reasons. While he was not seen wearing any thread till the 90’s, looks like the debacle of ABCL, which almost bankrupted Abhishek Bachchan too has been spotted wearing a red thread on his right hand.

3. Ajay Devgan

Ajay Devgan has been in the industry for over two decades. While he has seen failure, his career has been rather steady when compared to his contemporaries. But even this steady level of success, couldn’t make Ajay Devgan to resist the urge to rely on religious threads for some luck

4. Sara Ali Khan

Not just celebs who have been around for long, have seen several ups & downs, even newbie actors have not been able to wear a thread on them for that extra dose of luck. Sara Ali Khan too joins the brigade of bollywood actors who are superstitious.

5. Kartik Aaryan

Sara Ali Khan’s Love Aaj Kal2 co-star Kartik Aaryan too has been spotted with a back thread on his right leg. Even the success of Lukka Chuppi hasn’t stopped Kartik Aaryan from relying on his lucky charm.

6. Ranveer Singh

Looks like all the success has made Ranveer Singh rely on a black thread to safeguard his career from evil & negative energies. Not only is his career going through a purple patch, he is also married to Deepika Padukone – the biggest bollywood actress currently.

7. Ranbir Kapoor

While Ranbir Kapoor has never been spotted wearing any religious threads/rings on him, we did find this pick which has him wearing a black thread on his right leg. Ranbir Kapoor’s punjabi mother seems to have gotten the better of him & made him wear the thread. He too had a bad phase with several movies flopping. But with Sanju’s success, he is back in the reckoning.
