Karan Johar makes his directorial debut with 'Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani,' which will be released this month.

The film was evaluated by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) before its release, and various adjustments to the dialogue were requested. According to a news portal, the offensive word 'b******d', used many times in the film, was replaced by 'behan di', while rum brand Old Monk was substituted with 'Bold Monk'. 'Lok Sabha' references and a discussion addressing West Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee were apparently cut.
According to the news site, a dialogue in a lingerie shop scene was deemed "degrading women" and was omitted from the film, while the word "bra" was changed with "item."

On July 19, 'Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani' acquired its censor certificate; the film is said to be 2 hours and 48 minutes long.

Ranveer recently stated regarding this film, "This is Karan Johar's 'Karan Johar-est film." This reminds me of Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham.... It was an intentional and concerted effort. Karan Johar is resurrecting the style of cinema we grew up watching on the big screen. It has played such an important role in our lives. Karan's Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham... are "cult classics'' for an entire generation. These films were an important part of our upbringing. So it contains all the qualities of Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham: family, singing, happiness, and joy. This is a film that I hope will make people very happy. They'd have a smile on their face and a good feeling in their hearts."

'Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani' is set to be released on July 28. Alia Bhatt, Ranveer Singh, Jaya Bachchan, Dharmendra, and Shabana Azmi feature in the key roles in this family drama.
