Ranbir Kapoor dissuaded Rishi Kapoor and Randhir Kapoor from producing Anurag Basu's experimental film Barfi.

"Barfi!" is regarded as one of Ranbir Kapoor's finest roles. Not only does the movie star Ranbir, but it's also among Priyanka Chopra's best films. Even though the movie came out in 2012, people still adore it and its soundtrack.

When it was first released more than ten years ago, the ambitious yet unusual movie Barfi was directed by Anurag Basu. The 2012 film, which starred Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra, is still adored by many for its nuanced narrative. Ranbir, however, thought the movie's subject matter to be "risky" and forewarned his uncle Randhir Kapoor and father Rishi Kapoor when they promised to produce it.
In an earlier interview with Rediff.com, Randhir disclosed that he and Rishi were prepared to support Barfi as producers, but Ranbir dissuaded them. "I recall that one time, while drinking with my brother, Ranbir entered the room and announced that he was the main actor in the movie and that he had heard an amazing script. He said there was no producer for the movie. "My brother and I decided to produce the movie," he remarked.

"Ranbir warned us, 'Yeh subject thoda risky, toh aap log mat produce karo'," the renowned actor continued. It was the movie Barfi. It's one of those uncommon films these days with a soul. Later, Barfi was created by Siddharth Roy Kapur and Ronnie Screwwala under the aegis of UTV Motion Pictures.

Ranbir had earlier disclosed that his father had discouraged him from pursuing "arty" films such as Barfi. "My father says it as it is," the Animal actor said to PTI. He doesn't act insincere. He told me that acting is good but don't do arty films after seeing Barfi!. He occasionally wants me to keep up with his extremely distinct style of filmmaking. I hold his opinions in high regard. I will not give up on trying to bring him happiness, even if it takes 15 to 20 years. He is pleased with my job at Bombay Velvet, which motivates me to put in more effort.

Ileana D'Cruz made her debut in Barfi as well. The movie was India's entry for the Best Foreign Language Film Academy Award.
