SSR is the Inspiration Behind Muzamil Ibrahim's New Rap

Muzamil Ibrahim recently came out with a rap titled ‘I am the Alpha’, with which he intends to motivate those who are struggling to find a footing in their respective fields. It has been written and sung by him, composed by DJ Akbar, Darshan Kansara and directed by Haider Khan. He started penning the rap after the unfortunate demise of Sushant Singh Rajput. He informs that the first paragraph in the song is about SSR.

“Around the time when I was conceptualising the song, the news about Sushant’s unfortunate demise came out and just like everyone else, I was also deeply affected by it. I was following the stories that were doing the rounds, which allegedly led to Sushant’s death, and I could relate to them. I have faced the same struggle of making a mark in Bollywood on my own, and I know there are many more out there who could relate to this situation. I have been in that stage when you are looking into that void, and it's just that you don’t give up because your willpower is strong. So inspired by that, I wrote this rap to motivate everyone out there to hang on and stay focused on your goals,” says Muzamil, sharing some of his personal experiences. “There were so many films I was cast in, but was replaced at the last minute because the lead actor didn’t want me to be in the same frame as them. I have been through that as well,” says Muzamil.

He adds that Sushant’s death felt like a personal loss to him. “It felt like I lost someone close, even though we weren’t really friends. However, reading about him later revealed so many similarities between us. We both pursued engineering, passed out the same year and we both wrote. Perhaps that’s why it affected me so much. In retrospect, I wish I would have spoken to him more, but I guess we are too bound by our egos which deprives us from knowing someone beautiful. Though this song is not dedicated to Sushant, there are many more Sushants out there who are alive right now, this song is for them,” Muzamil asserts.

He says that many raps are written with an intention to vent out anger, but he wrote ‘I am the Alpha’ purely with a reason to motivate. “Having said that let me tell you, yes I am against nepotism, but I am not against all star kids per se. There are many talented ones out there as well like Hrithik Roshan, Shahid Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor, who are really good actors,” he clarifies. Muzamil has seen great success in his modeling career, and is now looking at an upswing in his acting career too. “Thankfully, Special Ops has done really well, and with OTT coming in, it has changed a lot for many of us,” he signs off on an optimistic note.
