Synopsis:
In Top Gun, Tom Cruise played the role of Maverick, a very daring and rebellious F-14 fighter pilot. Known for his impulsive flying skills and disregard for the rules, Maverick enlists in the elite air combat school of the Navy, better known as "Top Gun." In the film, he gets romantically involved with Charlie, played by Kelly McGillis, an instructor of astrophysics, while at the same time creating an intense rivalry with Ice, played by Val Kilmer. Maverick's nature of rebellion gets his superiors cheesed off and impressed at the same time, since he was challenging authority every chance he gets with his bold maneuvering and taking risks.

Awards: 
 The iconic music of this film earned it an Oscar for the category Best Original Song in 1986, while earning four other nominations. Moreover, it received two nominations from the Golden Globe and won one under the category Best Original Song. In 1988, it received a nomination for Best Foreign Language Film at the Japanese Academy Awards.
