Wanna know the top bollywood fiction movies? Look no further for the definitive list. There are many science fiction films made in India. From creating official and unofficial remakes that don’t hit the mark, to creating new hits like PK. Here is the list of top 10 science fiction films in Bollywood that range from films that skyrocketed at the box office to the ones that tanked it.

1. PK

Number one on the list and the sixth highest grossing Indian film in overseas markets, PK is a classic Rajkumar Hirani film. This 2014 hit film talks about money makers in the name of religion, a story along the lines of Umesh Shukla's OMG: Oh My God, but PK talks about the same story with a twist and comedy (and an alien).

2. Mr. India

This 1987 hit directed by Shekhar Kapur, starring Anil Kapoor, Sridevi and Amrish Puri, was the second highest grossing film in that year. Mr. India had the famous line “Mogambo khush hua” (Mogambo is pleased), and evergreen songs like 'Hawa hawai' and 'I love you.'

3. Koi... Mil Gaya

Directed by Rakesh Roshan starring his Greek God of a son Hrithik Roshan, the film is about Rohit, a mentally unstable child due to an accident when he was still in his mother’s womb. He accidentally sends out a signal to aliens who visit Earth. They leave an alien behind who changes Rohit’s life and makes him super smart. The movie did pretty well for itself in 2003 and went on to have sequels that will come up in this list.

4. Carbon: The Story of Tomorrow

This movie is set in the future, focusing on the existing and prevailing environmental issues in Delhi. This short film directed by Maitrey Bajpai and Ramiz Ilham Khan in 2017, show us the world set in the year 2067 where carbon is the only gas present in the atmosphere and oxygen has to be bought to survive. With stars like Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Jackky Bhagnani and Prachi Desai, this 25 minute short film is a must watch.

5. Krrish

The sequel to Koi... Mil Gaya, Krrish or Krishna is Rohit’s son who is born with super powers and is very good at hiding it. He meets a girl, falls in love and fights the bad guy with the name Krrish who is seen in an all-black outfit, the only thing hiding his identity. The film was a big hit in 2006 with a collection of 1.17 billion INR at the box office.

6. Krrish 3

Even though the film had the same story like the previous one with more powers revealed and more action, the film didn’t do that well at the box office; when compared to Krrish. Krrish 3 had a collection of only 292 crores, falling below the mark.

7. Aa Dekhen Zara

Budding photo journalist finds grandfather’s camera that reveals the future of what is in the picture would have been better if there was more work done. The actors did the best they could but failed and is one of the least recommended film to watch on this list. The Jehangir Surti directed film, starring Neil Nitin Mukesh and Bipasha Basu had an average story but did not deliver to expectations and tanked at the box office collecting only 6 crores, less than half of the budget of the film.

8. Ra. One

One of the most talked movies during 2011 was Ra. One. Director Anubhav Sinha did a splendid job in finding the best from Bollywood to be cast in this film. Although the film had a box office collection of 2.08 billion INR, it did fall short on the ratings with just 4.8/10 on IMDb.

9. Action Replayy

This Back to the Future remake did not do any justice to the original but did not fall too short either. Although this film did not do well with its 4.2 rating, this is the kind of film you can watch to pass your time. Getting Akshay Kumar to act in this film was probably one of the best decisions the director made. Akshay is one actor who can make a bad script seem extremely hilarious with his acting skills, like he did in WelcomeSingh is Kingg and many more. Even though this time travel film did not reach the top of the charts, it is definitely a film that you can watch to while away your time.

10. Love Story 2050

Another time travel film, another fail. This Harman Baweja and Priyanka Chopra Jonas starrer tanked the charts and box office collection. The film released in 2008, directed by Harry Baweja. Harman’s debut film was rated a 2.6/10 on IMDb and had a box office collection of only 185 million INR when the budget was 600 million INR.
