Why Kriti Sanon's Meena Kumari Biopic Shelved, Know The Reason Here

Actress Kriti Sanon, who was locked for a Meena Kumari biopic to be produced and directed by ace fashion designer Manish Malhotra under his home banner, has been shelved. There were reports that the biopic that was supposed to go on floors in October 2023 was earlier pushed to 2024 and then 2025, but a close source attached to the project reveals that the film is finally shelved.

It all began when Manish Malhotra sought the life rights of Meena Kumari for a long time. In the meantime, he pitched the script to Kriti Sanon. The actress even gave her nod to the project, but Manish couldn't get the life rights in place as per the scheduled time. Kriti got busy with her other releases and kept waiting to kickstart the project.

She had even undergone a few look tests for the film. As soon as it was reported that Manish couldn't get the rights, director Siddharth P Malhotra approached Meena Kumari's family to buy the life rights. The final draft of his film titled Kamal aur Meena was offered to Kiara Advani. In a recent report, it was leaked that Kiara loved the script.

Siddharth has paid a hefty amount to buy the life rights of the yesteryear actress. Looks like, Kriti's loss is Kiara's gain.
