Guess Who: A-list Actress Loses Out On Top Honour

While even getting a nomination is enough to boost the career of actors & other celebs in Hollywood, award shows in India are a joke. The nominees & the winners are decided on the basis of the celeb’s proximity to the judges, whether he/she will attend the event. While most of hollywood award winners (especially for movies), can boast of superb acting, script, music etc, the celebs with the biggest clout take home the awards in India. We loathed this reigning superstar of the 2000’s who attended every award show, made money off performances, hosting the show & saw to it that he took home an award. While the more deserving actors, whose movies received little commercial acclaim despite having stellar performances never won an award. An oscar nomination/win leads to surge in box office receipts of hollywood flicks. All Indians know that our award shows are a joke. Many celebs have openly admitted that they bribed the judges to win awards. Many of the classier celebs, especially the ones who don’t have a “for sale” tag on their forehead choose not to attend these award shows due to very same reason.

We had once heard a rumor about an actress who was ready to bed one of the judges for the sake of an award! many star kids think they are entitled for the best debut award & don’t think twice before picking up fights if they don’t win. It is almost always a star kid who wins the award for best debut. Sometimes they invent an award just to keep all the stars who attend the event happy.

Blind Item

This practice has been followed at various award ceremonies for years now. It’s not something that you hear about very often but the ‘practice’, as we mentioned, is common and popularly followed by the organisers of award shows. Case in point – an actor/actress chosen to win the top honour has to be the one who attends the event, failing which the title goes to another who marks their attendance.

From what we hear from a birdie, this is exactly what happened at a recently concluded awards night. One A-list actress, who is close to the organiser of this world-famous lifestyle magazine’s award ceremony was supposed to bag the top honour. Unfortunately, she couldn’t make it to the event, leaving the organisers in state of surprise. The reason for this sudden opt out is best known to the actress.

Now, since she wasn’t present at the do, the organisers, had to anyway honour someone with this prestigious title. And so they did! The award was eventually given to another contemporary, who shares a good rapport with the former. Both the actresses were supposed to be a part of the ceremony, however, destiny had some other plans. Result: one actress loss is another’s gain. As fate had it, tables were turned at the end moment.
