Tata confirms Tiago EV, expected to be among India's least expensive EVs, Launching in India soon.

According to the company's announcement on World EV Day 2022, Tata Motors would shortly introduce its following EV model. With the launch of the Tata Tiago EV hatchback, the Indian automaker will this time focus on the more cheap EV category. In the upcoming months, the new Tata Tiago EV hatchback will be introduced in India as the company's first electric vehicle (EV) model. It may also be among the most reasonably priced EVs in the nation.

In India, Tata now offers sales of the Xpres-T EV, Tata Tigor EV, Tata Nexon EV Prime, and Tata Nexon EV MAX. The EV hatchback could accrue enormous potential in the mass market EV segment and is anticipated to lower the cost of entry into the lineup. Tata introduced the Xpres-T EV, which is now their least expensive EV in India, in July 2021 for Rs 9.75 lakh.

The Tata Tiago EV will shortly be released by Tata Motors in India.

At the 2018 Auto Expo, the Tata Tiago EV, which is based on the ICE-powered hatchback, was on display. The Indian automaker has now disclosed that the product may soon be introduced in India.

Similar parts would be utilised in the Tata Tiago EV, Tata X-Press T EV, and Tata Tigor EV. The X-Press T EV only works with fleets and has a weak motor. Based on Ziptron architecture, the Tata Tigor EV has a more powerful motor and a larger battery and is offered for private purchase.

Tata Motors might use the 41bhp electric motor that is offered in the Tata X-Press T EV to keep costs as low as feasible. It is coupled with a 16.5 kWh battery pack, which has a stated range of 165 km, and a 21.5 kWh alternative, which has a stated range of 213 km.

However, Tata Motors may combine the Ziptron powertrain found on the Tigor EV with the Tata Tiago, and the car would then gain access to the motor's 75 horsepower and 170 Nm of torque. With the 26kWh lithium-ion battery pack connected, it would have a range of about 306 kilometres. On the Tigor EV, however, Tata divides the battery pack in two, with one piece staying in the boot. It's only a matter of time before we learn how Tata engineers choose to incorporate the battery given the smaller boot on the hatch.

As we come closer to the actual launch, more information will be made available. The Tata Tiago EV's price might be kept between Rs. 10 and Rs. 12 lakh, which would be quite competitive (ex-showroom).
