Traditional dress of Kashmiri Men
Kurta and a salwar are the ethnic Kashmiri dress worn by men. This combination of the dress is called the Pathani costume, whereas in the valley, it is called the Khan Dress. They wear it with a short waistcoat called Sadri. The ordinary dress for men in Kashmir is called Churidar Pajama, which is loosely fit, very comfortable, and warm.
Traditional Dress of Kashmiri Women
Women in Kashmir wear salwar kameez with a dupatta. They wear a headscarf to cover their head. In the winter, they wear Pheran and a Pashmina Shawl to complete their dress. Their attire is entirely different from the attire of Central and Southern India. This Kashmiri dress is very much similar to Persian and Afghan female dresses. The headwear is called Kasaba or Taranga in Kashmir.
Pheran
Pheran is very common dress in Kashmir. This is a long dress that covers entire body upto knees. It is worn by mens and kids in winter where cap may or may not be attached with Pheran. Women wear Pheran all season as a sign of modesty. Kashmiri Pandit women tie their Pheran in the waist with Lihung. Lihung is a folded material used as belt by them.
Shawl
Pashmina Shawl in Kashmir is most pupular in the World as they are very soft ot skin and gives luxurios feeling. Pashmina is also popular for their beautifully designed embroidery and is very warm. This Pashmina Shawl is the pride of the valley.
Jewellery
It is the most important part of the entire attire of Kashmiri Traditional dresses. In past Tikka and Jiggni were extremely pupolar but lost the position to the new arrived ornament nowdays.
