Dharal Surelia is a highly regarded architect, designer, artist, and entrepreneur working out of India. She has made an astounding impact on the design and branding world with her visionary approach. While many know her only as the famous singer Darshan Raval’s wife, Dharal has built an impressive identity for herself professionally by dedicating many years to hard work, creativity, and entrepreneurship. As the owner of Butter Concepts, a multi-faceted design business located in Ahmedabad, she has successfully combined architecture, visual storytelling, and business strategy for the past couple of years into a successful career.
Childhood and Educational Development
Dharal was born on 13 September 1994 in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, where she spent time growing up in an environment that fostered creativity and innovation. From an early age, she’s had a strong interest in and exposure to design, art, and aesthetics – this has given her insights regarding the possible careers that she might ultimately pursue.
Dharal studied Architecture at CEPT University in Ahmedabad, India, where she also studied Interior Design and gained further insight into how to create spaces, as well as creating for the user experience. After completing her studies in India, she went on to ETH Zurich in Switzerland, gaining exposure to global design practices and methodologies.
Dharal furthered her education at Babson College, U.S.A., acquiring new knowledge and skills in entrepreneurship and business. She has learned about design and innovation at the Rhode Island School of Design. Further, she has acquired experience in her field as a Communications Designer at The Project Cafe, Ahmedabad, by using design thinking techniques to create strategies for building brands and connecting customers. After gaining valuable experience from her Communications Designer position, she moved into the Strategy Consulting role at Alps & Meters, Boston, where she specialized in Business Strategy, Branding, and Creative Problem-Solving.
Having all this experience together with her educational background, she has learned about the multi-disciplinary aspect of design. In 2019, she established Butter Concepts, which is an architectural and design firm based in Ahmedabad working in various sectors to provide architecture, interior design, branding, packaging design, industrial design, and visual communication. Through her leadership and vision for design and architecture, Butter Concepts has become known for providing aesthetic solutions in diverse industries.
Family and Personal Life
Dharal’s family has always been there for their daughter; her dad, Dharmesh Surelia, is the Chairman and Managing Director of the successful construction equipment company Macons Group, while her mother, Achala Surelia, and brother, Jainil Surelia, have also been huge supporters during her entire life.
Dharal married singer Darshan Raval (the former idol) during an intimate ceremony in January 2025; only close friends and family attended this wedding. The two began as friends and transformed into what would be a lifelong partnership, providing a unique level of meaning to both lives and to all their combined families and fans.

When working remotely, Dharal spends most of her time away from the office, travelling, drawing, and finding new sources of inspiration. A large part of her social media presence shows how much she enjoys design, culture, architecture, and simple everyday beauty.
