Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) is a recognized franchise in the Indian Premier League (IPL) that is known for its competitive bowling attack and is also very aggressive in the batting department. From Hyderabad, Telangana, the team joined the tournament in 2013 and slowly but surely became a consistent player. With a very dedicated fan base, which we know as the Orange Army, SRH has had success in the championships, great memories from the playoffs, and also very tough seasons to remember in the history of the team’s IPL run.

The Beginning of Sunrisers Hyderabad
Sunrisers Hyderabad came into the scene in 2012 and had their IPL debut the following year in 2013, which was also the end of the Deccan Chargers franchise. The team impressed from the start by qualifying for the playoffs in their first season. Early on, they identified as a very disciplined bowling team, great in the field, and also had the ability to put up strong defensive totals.
SRH’s First IPL Title in 2016
In 2016, we saw a turning point in the franchise’s history. Under captain David Warner, they had a great season, which saw them play in the final against Royal Challengers Bangalore. In the end, Hyderabad came out on top by eight runs, which was also the first IPL title for the team. Warner’s leadership, along with the play of players like Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mustafizur Rahman, was key to that success.
Consistent Performances and Major Finals
SRH went on to do very well in the years that followed. In 2018, they made it to the final through Kane Williamson’s leadership but came up short at the end to Chennai Super Kings. Also, over the course of many seasons, they made the playoffs, which in turn helped to build a rep for putting up a good fight against all teams with their solid bowling and smart team tactics.
In the 2024 season, that was a different chapter. Under Pat Cummins’ leadership, SRH went aggressive in the batting department and put up some amazing scores. We saw them reach the final, but in the end they lost to the Kolkata Knight Riders, which saw them finish as runners-up.
Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2025 and 2026
In the 2025 season, SRH put out the same aggressive batting display we have come to expect of them, which in part was a result of the form of players like Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head, who did very well for us. That said, the team failed to make it to the playoff stages.
In the 2026 season, we saw a return to the success of SRH’s powerful batting lineup. The franchise put on great performances that saw them secure a spot in the playoffs, though their season came to an end in the Eliminator. That season brought out our offensive best and also brought into focus the need for consistent play across the board.
Conclusion
Sunrisers Hyderabad has had a very resilient run in the IPL, which also includes a series of tactical shifts and great performances. From that first title win in 2016 to final appearances in 2018 and 2024, the franchise has put together a unique identity in the league. Through 2026, we see the team’s determination to go for that championship again and, at the same time, secure a strong place for itself in Indian cricket.
