Ashlee Baracy was born in the Detroit suburb of Westland on April 22, 1985. She was very confident and charismatic from a young age, traits that would help her later in pageantry and broadcasting. She graduated from John Glenn High School, where she cheered and served in student government. Thereafter, she went on to complete her undergraduate education at the University of Michigan, earning a degree in English and Sociology. She would later earn a Broadcast Meteorology Certificate from Mississippi State University and a Master's Degree from Eastern Michigan University.

Early on, she also had the distinction of competing in a few beauty pageants. She won the title of Miss Michigan in 2008 and then went on to compete in Miss America 2009, capturing a Top 10 placement and an award for Community Service.

Importance was given to their proposal on Belle Isle, a historic island park in Detroit, and they got married at the Gem Theatre in 2017.

The couple is now proud parents of two children:
