Lara Dutta was born on April 16, 1978, in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, India, making her 44 years old. She was born to a Hindu father, Wing Commander L. K. Dutta (retired), and an Anglo-Indian mother, Jennifer Dutta. Her family includes her older sister Sabrina and younger sister Cheryl, both of whom served in the Indian Air Force. Renowned composer and DJ Nitin Sawhney is her cousin. In 1981, her family moved to Bangalore, where she completed her schooling at St. Francis Xavier Girls' High School and the Frank Anthony Public School. Lara then graduated from the University of Mumbai with a degree in economics and a minor in communications. She is multilingual, fluent in English, Hindi, Punjabi, and Kannada.

Pageantry Career

Lara Dutta's journey in pageantry began when she won the Gladrags Megamodel India competition in 1995, earning the right to compete in the 1997 Miss Intercontinental Pageant, where she was crowned Miss Intercontinental 1997. In 2000, she participated in the Femina Miss India contest, where she impressed with her thoughtful answers during the final rounds, leading her to win the title of Femina Miss India Universe.

At the 49th Miss Universe pageant in Cyprus, Lara Dutta achieved the highest score in the swimsuit competition and set a record with the highest individual score in any category during the finalist interview.
