Manika Batra was born on June 15, 1995, and is an Indian trailblazer in table tennis that went down into the books of many with some impressive achievements. A native of Delhi, she began playing table tennis since the age of four at the hands of her elder siblings. Batra gained fame when she won three gold medals at the South Asian Games in 2016 and two double gold medals during the 2018 Commonwealth Games.

Batra's career is marked with many firsts and bests. She was the first Indian woman to win a gold medal in singles at the Commonwealth Table Tennis event at the 2018 CWG. She further led the Indian women's team to a historic victory against Singapore, thereby ending their dominance after 16 years at CWG. Batra reached the third round in singles at the 2020 Summer Olympics. This achievement was unprecedented by an Indian paddler.

She has won some of the highest awards. This includes the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna in 2020, Arjuna Award in 2018, and ITTF's Breakthrough Star Award in 2018. She was featured on the covers of Femina and Vogue magazines also.

She gained titles at the 2021 WTT Contender Budapest mixed doubles and 2021 WTT Contender Lasko women's doubles this year. In her career, Batra had reached a world ranking of 4 in women's doubles for the first time this year 2022 with Archana Girish Kamath.
