Priya Sachdev was born on 15 December 1977 in New Delhi, India, into a well-established Khatri business family. She grew up alongside her sister, Charu Sachdev, and two younger brothers, Harpreet and Hans Sachdev. Her father, Ashok Sachdev, is a prominent businessman, while her mother is Pinky Sachdev.
She completed her schooling at The British School, New Delhi, before moving to the United Kingdom for higher education.
