IPL 2024 Trade Window: Big Releases Before the Mini Auction
The IPL 2024 trade window has been closed now as all 10 teams have finalized their squads and displayed their retained and released players lists just before the end of the trade window. Some exciting trades were made, but on the other hand, some marquee players were released by their respective franchises. Here in this article, we have a list of big names released before the IPL 2024 mini-auction.
Are you supposed to guess the names of big releases during the IPL 2024 trade window? If not, be with us throughout the article.
Harry Brooks
Young English destructive batter is the first big name who has been released from SRH. In the last IPL auction, he was brought by SRH at a very high price of 13.25. He failed to mark his mark in the tournament and could not justify his high price. He only managed to score 190 runs in just 11 matches with an average of 21.11; he only played a brilliant inning, in which he scored his first Indian Premier League century. Following his bad form in the last season, the Orange Army decided to separate him before the IPL 2024 mini-auction.
Jofra Archer
Mumbai Indians played a masterstroke when they brought in the deadly pacer in the 2023 auction, but unfortunately that did not work for them because he could play only a few matches for MI in the 2023 season due to his back injury. He played only five matches, and his performance was decent. After those matches, he was ruled out for the whole tournament, and till now he hasn't played any competitive cricket. This is the main reason why MI has released Jofra Archer during the IPL 2024 trade window.
Josh Hazelwood
The Australian superstar bowler is another big name who has been released before the IPL 2024 Mini Auction. He has been a match winner with the ball for RCB for the last few years, but in the last season he missed a few matches because his fitness created some problems and his performance was just decent. It is really a shame to see a matchwinner like this being released from the team.
Ben Stokes
The English Test skipper was the third-most expensive player in the IPL 2023, but his injuries did not let him play a handful of matches in a yellow outfit for CSK. He was brought in at a mammoth price of Rs 16.25 crore. He played few matches, and his performance was nowhere close to his best. CSK was interested in not letting him go, but he opted out of IPL 2024 during the IPL 2024 trade window; hence, CSK was compelled to release Ben Stokes.
