The outrage over Mahsa Amini, 22, allegedly being killed by Iran's morality police for allegedly donning an "improper" hijab, has spread far and wide. While the European Union referred to the incident as "awful," the United Nations condemned the killing of Amini and demanded that those involved be punished. Over 150 nations have protested for women's right to choose whether or not to wear the headscarf in response to the criticism of the hijab that has spread beyond Iran. India has been added to the list thanks to one courageous demonstrator in Mumbai.

Actress Mandana Karimi, who gained renown from her appearances on Bigg Boss 9 and Lock Up, went out to stage a solo protest for women in her home country of Iran. She appeared on the streets of Mumbai holding a sign that had text and images to illustrate events in Iran.

She even captured the same in a video that she posted on her Instagram account, which is now private. She was seen in the video standing by herself at Mumbai's bandstand while holding a banner with text and images about the situation in Iran.

She was also observed talking with bystanders and students as she spoke to them about the suffering of Iranians, particularly women.

American superstars like Angelina Jolie and Nazanin Boniadi from the British acting industry have criticised it, but the Bollywood celebs have remained silent. Actress Nazanin Boniadi, who was born in Iran, referred to the current movement as "nothing short of the first female-led revolution of our time" in a lengthy guest post for Deadline. "To the women of Iran, we see you," said Jolie on Instagram.

The 22-year-murder old's was condemned by international organisations like the United Nations and the European Union. Nada Al-Nashif, the acting UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, voiced concern over Mahsa Amini's murder while in jail and the brutal response by security forces to the accompanying protests.

While on Wednesday, Bangladeshi writer Taslima Nasreen questioned Mandana on Twitter, asking why Muslim women "who are forced to wear hijab" were not present. She said this because Mandana was protesting alone on the streets.

Mandana was born and educated in Tehran. In 2010 she came to India seeking a career in modelling. Since then she has worked in many movies like Roy, Thar and Bhaag Johnny. Mandana has shown her pain and support for the Iranian protesters by posting videos of cutting her hair and talking about the issue on Instagram.

The intense protests in Iran have contended the lives of 92 people since they began two weeks ago.
