Ratna Pathak Shah, a seasoned actress, recently spoke at a book launch in Mumbai on SS Rajamouli's magnum opus, RRR. The Free Press Journal reported that Ratna referred to RRR as a "regressive film" and claimed that "it looks backward when we should look forward" during the event.

Ratna continued, "Films like RRR are very popular today," about the article in The Free Press Journal. But the movie goes backward. While we should be looking forward, it is looking backward. We simply believe that whatever we do is right because India is the mother of democracy.

We will have to watch movies like RRR until filmmakers stop viewing their work critically. However, we detest criticism. Our egos are wounded by this environment, which so many powerful people have unfortunately forced upon us," Ratna continued.

Reportedly, RRR is one of the biggest films of 2022.Ram Charan, Ajay Devgn, and Alia Bhatt are featured in the movie. It was made on a budget of ₹550 crores ($72 million). The Movie had a collection of ₹1,200 crores (US$175.47 million) worldwide. It broke all records for highest earnings on opening day with ₹240 crores (US$30 million) worldwide on its first day.

This movie revolves around the imaginary friendship between Alluri Sitarama Raju (Charan) and Komaram Bheem (Rama Rao), two real-life Indian rebels who fought the British Raj. The story, which takes place in the 1920s, focuses on the unrecorded period of their life when both revolutionaries decided to remain unknown before taking up arms for their nation. The movie has received five nominations from the Critics Choice Awards and two nominations for the Golden Globes.

On the work front, Ratna is awaiting the release of the Kutch Express movie in Gujarati. The movie, which was directed by Viral Shah, is her feature film debut in Gujarati. Manasi Parekh, Darsheel Safary, and Dharmendra Gohil play important parts as well.

In a statement last month, she discussed the movie and stated, "I've been wanting to make a Gujarati film for a long time, but couldn't find something particularly intriguing. Then this movie with a great story, a great cast, and to be shot in Kutch came up.
