The fact that good things come in small packages is something Bollywood filmmakers have acknowledged lately. Way before small budget movies set in small towns did awe at the box office and earned plaudits, Bollywood counted on making films with gigantic budgets to woo the audience. Larger-than-life sets, impractical movie locations, and songs filmed in international locations were possibly the go-to mantra for the majority of the directors and producers. Although, the lack of a fascinating storyline and fine implementation led to most of the big-budget films tanking at the box office. Here’s a list of the top 10 anticipated movies that failed to make an impression to the audience and faced massive loss.

1. Bombay Velvet, Rs 125 Crores

We are certain that just like us most of you have not yet watched this Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma starrer. And we aren’t amazed at all, for evident reasons. The trailer itself and the reviews were sufficient to spare us the disgust of sitting through the movie. The movie was made with a budget of Rs 120 Crores and it managed to make just Rs 43 Crores. Even though reports imply that it actually made only Rs 20 Crores.

2. Saawariya, Rs 40 Crores

Sanjay Leela Bhansali films are well-known for their splendor and opulent sets. Although Ranbir Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor were fortunate to start their career with SLB, we can’t actually say the same for the producer of the film. The movie was a snooze fest, and the only good thing about the movie was the songs. But sadly, it tanked at the box office and made hardly Rs 36 Crores.

3.  Shaandaar, Rs 75 Crores

Well, we don’t need to mention what a disaster this movie was. So much so that Alia Bhatt herself has acknowledged that one film she regrets doing is Shaandaar. Whilst everyone was hoping for Shahid Kapoor and Alia to do magic at the box office, it ended up being a massive disappointment. Made with a budget of Rs 75 crores it was stated a flop.

4. Kites, Rs 90 Crores

Even the soundtrack and the Mexican artist Bárbara Mori Ochoa couldn’t keep the film from bombing at the box office. Made with a gigantic budget of Rs 90 Crores, the film only managed to gather Rs 48 Crores. Well, we don’t hold responsible the audience a bit for that. If only good looks and beautiful locations could sell a movie.

5. Yuvraj, Rs 50 Crores

Much to everybody’s surprise, there’s a Salman Khan film that truly failed to enter the Rs 100 Crore club. The movie starring Katrina Kaif, Anil Kapoor, Mithun Chakraborty, Zayed Khan and Boman Irani turned out to be a huge flop that hardly made Rs 16 Crores.

6. Thugs of Hindostan, Rs 300 Crores

Thugs of Hindostan is one of the costliest Bollywood movies. It received negative reviews from critics and audiences, with commend towards the performances of Bachchan and Khan but received criticism against Acharya's direction, screenplay, script and performances of the supporting actors. The film recorded to be the highest first-day collection and highest two-day collection for any Hindi film in India, plus the fourth biggest opening weekend in India, but right away experienced a considerable drop in the second day itself.

7. Ra One, Rs 130 Crores

Just like Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan is also in our list. His movie, Ra One is a major instance of how even the biggest stars in Bollywood can’t save a film, courtesy an illogical storyline. The film also starred Kareena Kapoor as the female lead and created a buzz for the song ‘Chammak Challo’, but that’s all about it. Made with a gigantic budget of Rs 130 Crores, the film managed to gather Rs 114 Crores.

8. Tubelight, Rs 135 Crores

Tubelight was made with a plan of Rs 135 Crores, but it only collected Rs 119 Crores. The storyline was a lot enhanced than most of Salman Khan’s films though.

9. Race 3, Rs 180 Crores

A film that we wish to wipe away from our memory is this! IN comparison to Race 1 and Race 2, this one starring Jacqueline Fernandez, Bobby Deol, Anil Kapoor and Daisy Shah was a total disaster. We doubt how this film even collected Rs 166 Crores.

10. Zero, Rs 200 Crores

We didn’t actually anticipate this from a director like Anand L Rai, who’s given us some amazing films like Tanu Weds Manu and Raanjhannaa. The only good thing about the movie was Katrina Kaif where she was in her element and earned applauds for her acting skills.
