Ranbir Kapoor is at a crossroads that may define his Bollywood career. After winning over critics with films like Sanju and Animal, which he was part of, the actor is now set for a set of much-awaited projects, which include Ramayana, Love War and Animal Park.

Ranbir had his big break in 2007 with Saawariya, which also saw him team up with director Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Though the film was a box-office flop, Ranbir proved himself over the years to be a very versatile actor through his forays into romance, drama, comedy and action.
His soon-to-be-released epic Ramayana, which is to be directed by Nitesh Tiwari, is set forth to be the biggest Indian film project of all time. We see Ranbir Kapoor in the lead as Lord Rama in this production, which also sees Yash in the role of Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman, and reports say that Sai Pallavi is to play Sita. In terms of business, the film, which is in two parts, is said to have the potential to do over $10 billion worldwide if it does indeed prove to be a hit.
Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh reports that this is Ranbir’s best stage yet which he is doing fantastically in terms of playing very different characters and genres. Also, as per Adarsh, Ranbir is at the peak of his career at present because of the scale and variety of his upcoming films.
Trade expert Sumit Kadel put forth that if Ramayana, Animal Park, and Love War do very well at the box office, then Ranbir Kapoor may put up a challenge to Shah Rukh Khan for the top spot in Bollywood. But also, it is noted by the analysts that Ramayana comes with great expectation and very high risk due to its large-scale production.
Following the success of Ramayana, which he also directed, Anurag Basu will once again work with Ranbir in Love and War, who will share the screen with Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal. That film is creating a lot of talk in the media for its star cast and Basu’s big-scale cinematic approach.
Meanwhile, in Animal Park, which saw the release of the sequel to Animal, we saw a safer commercial venture which came off the back of the first film’s blockbuster success. Ranbir’s in-depth performance in Animal won wide attention, which in turn did a great deal to cement his status as a bankable star.
Critics note that Ranbir Kapoor has a great range as an actor, which he displays in many of his works. In the role of Sanjay Dutt in Sanju and in that of an aggressive character in Animal, he has proven again and again to take on tough and varied roles.
In the coming years, which see the release of several large-scale projects, Ranbir Kapoor’s future in Bollywood is at an all-time high. The success of films like Ramayana and Love War may see him reposition himself in Indian cinema to become a part of the most commercial lot of his generation.
