Rani Mukerji To Undergo High Octane Action in Mardaani 3

Rani Mukerji is leaving no stone unturned in making Mardaani 3 bigger and better. She is going extra miles to make sure that the film would save the production house from sinking. Except for Pathaan and Tiger 3, none of the films have worked at the box office.

YRF launched Mardaani franchise in 2014. Rani played a tough cop Shivani Shivaji Roy, who tracks down the villain Tahir Raj Bhasin, who runs a child trafficking cartel. The film was directed by late Pradeep Sarkar. 

The second instalment Mardaani 2 was released in 2019 and directed by Pradeep Sarkar’s assistant Gopi Putharan. Based in Kota, Rajasthan, the film highlights the crime against women. Vishal Jethwa played the antagonist Sunny while Rani headlined the film. 

Recently, YRF announced the third film of Mardaani franchise which is directed by Abhiraj Minawala with Rani Mukerji and Aeklavya Tomer in the lead roles. It is slated to release on Holi 2026 in theatres. 

A source close to the film informs, “Rani has indulged herself in the film completely. She is putting her best foot forward to take the franchise ahead. While she is giving inputs to enhance the script and her performance, she is undergoing an extensive action training for the film.”

“Although, in earlier two films, Rani did action but the third part would be going to even more brutal and deadly. However, the subject of the film is still under wraps, it is touted to be related to part 1 of the franchise but there’s no confirmation by the studio yet,” the source tells.

Rani was last seen in Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway that won her several awards for her powerful performance. It is exciting to wait and watch as what Rani has to offer in Mardaani 3.
