Rocky aur Rani ki Prem Kahani Review

Rocky aur Rani ki prem kahani

One of the most awaited films of Karan Johar, Rocky aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani had been released in the theatres on 28 July 2023. Have you watched it yet? Talking about the casting it stars Alia Bhatt (Rani Chatterjee) and Ranveer Singh (Rocky Randhava) in the lead roles and also has Dharmendra (Kamalji), Jaya Bachchan (Dhanlaxshmi Randhava), Shaban Azmi (Jamini Chatterjee), Tota Roy Choudhury (Chondan Chatterjee), Anjali Anand (Gayatri), Churni Ganguli (Mrs Chaterjee), Kshitee Jog (Poonam Randhava), Aamir Baashir (Tizori Randhava), Namit Das (Somen Mitra) and many more.

Rocky Aur Rani ki Prem Kahani

As the title suggests it is the love story of Rocky and Rani. This Dharma Production has tried their best to change with time. It shows two different families one Bengali and the other Punjabi. It shows the love story of two generations, one of Kamalji and Jamini and the other of Rocky and Rani. It is the story of the families issues of the rich. Dhanlaxshmi being the decision maker of the Randhava family wanted everything her way and never respected others' persceptive or opinion, she never let her son get close to his father (Kamalji). This gradually creates a lot of chaos in the family. She is against the choice of Rocky as Rani is from a Bengali family and also Kamalji had an affair with Jamini who is the grandmother od Rani. The movie is full of drama, emotions, laughters and love.

I really like the songs and the way they had been shot, it is mesmerising. The film has made the best use of the old songs. As they showed the love story of Kamalji and Jamini, the whole story had many popular old songs which were beautifully picturised. 'Jhumk Gira Re' has already made the nation roll on it along with 'Tum Kya Mile'. One of my most favourite part was watching Ranveer doing the Kathak dance form, he was just amazing and I just wanted to shout 'Once More'. The entire film had many hidden and small societal messages be it on men and women or equality within the family. The setup, scenes and outfits of the entire cast members was on point throughout. Ranveer was mostly in Gucci's and Alia had a massive saree collection.

I would rate this film 3.8/5.
