For her performance in 'Gangubai Kathiawadi,' the actress received the Best Actress award. To accept the honor, the actress wore her wedding saree, which is one of her most treasured possessions. The actress disclosed the reason for the sartorial shift in a recent Instagram post.

“A special day calls for a special outfit. And sometimes, that outfit is already right there. What’s special once can be special again. And again...,” Alia wrote while urging her fans to "repeat, reuse and rewear" their clothes.

Alia styled her modern ivory Sabyasachi wedding saree differently for the National Film Awards. She wore her hair in a sloppy floral-adorned bun instead of leaving it open. The actress also wore strong makeup, including kohl-rimmed eyes, accentuated brows, and a crimson bindi. Even in terms of jewelry, her elegant pearl choker and exquisite ear studs stood out. Ami Patel, Alia's fashion stylist, praised the actress for setting an example of reinventing classic styles. The stylist also stated how her outfit for the prestigious occasion suited Gangubai's well-known white sarees.

Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor married last April 14 at their Mumbai residence. On her wedding day, she looked lovely in the same ivory saree with gold accents. She accessorized with thick kundan jewelry while keeping her makeup basic. In an earlier interview, she told Vogue, "I love a saree." It's the most comfortable garment in the world, which is why I wore one instead of a lehenga to my wedding."
