War 2 — that which came out of the YRF Spy Universe — is one of the biggest action films. Directed by Ayan Mukerji and produced by Aditya Chopra under Yash Raj Films, it brought in Bollywood star Hrithik Roshan and Telugu superstar N. T. Rama Rao Jr., popularly known as Jr NTR. Also in the film is Kiara Advani. War 2 was released in Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil on August 14, 2025. It is the sixth film in the YRF Spy Universe and also takes up the story of Agent Kabir from the 2019 hit War.

Story of War 2

In War 2, we are told of Kabir Dhaliwal, played by Hrithik Roshan. What was once the story of India’s finest secret agent is now that of a man who has gone off the grid and has become a security risk. From a respected member of the intelligence community to a dangerous adversary, Kabir’s turn is the main conflict that the film plays out.
In the case of Kabir, the authorities turn to another very skilled agent, who is Vikram, played by Jr NTR. Unlike Kabir, who is very much a by-the-book agent, Vikram is out to see his mission through at any cost. The two agents, who began as colleagues, find themselves in opposition, which leads to a tense battle of wits and action that includes elements of espionage, personal feelings, international settings, and large-scale action.
Yash Raj Films reports that what we have is a struggle between two very skilled agents that plays out on the world stage. This gives War 2 a global setting, but at the same time the personal rivalry between Kabir and Vikram is what weaves the story together.

Star Cast

Hrithik Roshan is back as Kabir Dhaliwal, which is the character he played in War to begin with. His return was the primary reason the sequel got fans’ attention.
Jr NTR enters the Hindi film industry with his character of Vikram, a Special Units officer who is to put away Kabir. His casting brings in a large-scale South Indian star to the YRF Spy franchise and also creates the film’s much-awaited Hrithik versus NTR head-to-head.

The film’s import is enhanced by the fact that its characters and events are set within a wide-scale spy story timeline. Also, Kabir, in the person of Hrithik Roshan, takes on a key role in this growing cinematic world.

Final Thoughts

War 2 has what Kabir from Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR’s powerful screen presence had; the former brings in the rivalry, which was a major hit in the film. As for Kiara Advani in a key role, Ayan Mukerji at the director’s chair, and Pritam at the helm of the music, the movie comes through with a strong team behind it.
Released on August 13, 2025, War 2 is out to present a mix of espionage, emotion, romance, dance, and large-scale action. For fans of the YRF Spy series, which includes Kabir’s story, the film is very much a game-changer and also takes the franchise forward.
