Sushmita Sen is not only a well-known actress but also a humble individual in real life. She is recognized for her fearless and outspoken nature, never hesitating to speak up for what is right. Her crowning moment as Miss Universe remains one of the defining moments of her career, which she followed up with several successful Bollywood projects, showcasing her talent as an actress.

However, her fame also grew from her impressive dance performances in songs like Mehboob Mere and Dilbar Dilbar. Yet, her career was not without challenges, as she faced criticism from those around her for performing item numbers. In one instance, Sushmita opened up about this experience, and we are revisiting that story today.

During an interview with Film Companion, Sushmita Sen discussed her decision to perform item numbers, expressing pride despite being advised against it due to potential damage to her reputation as an actress. Sushmita stated, "I am extremely proud...Lead actors and actresses do not perform item numbers because it could tarnish their reputation. But I said, take me."

Continuing the conversation, Sushmita Sen shared that two of her managers abandoned her because they wanted her to star in a full-length film rather than making a cameo appearance in an item song. She disclosed, "I've had two managers leave me because they thought I was crazy for agreeing to do an item song when they were trying to cast me in a leading role. But music is music, and it can survive a bad film."
