Where Is Shalini Unnikrishnan - The Victim Of The Kerala Story Now?

Did you watch The Kerala Story? It was released on 5th May 2023 and has been directed by Sudipto Sen. The High Court refused for the release of the film in the cinemas but it was still released and was applauded by the audience. 

The story of the film is based on true events. It shows the story of Kerala women who were recruited to the ISIS terrorist ranks. The lead character of the film, Shalini Unnikrishnan was played by Adah Sharma. 

The chacter is based on the the real life story of Nimisha Alias Fatima Isa who is one of the four girls who fled to Afghanistan and later joined the ISIS war against the US forces in the ISIS controlled Khorasan Province. Shalini's real name is Nimisha Sambat, and she is from Attingal, Kerala. As a result of her conversion to Islam, she changed her name to Fathima. Her husband, Bexin Vincent alias Eesa, and she were arrested in 2016 while attempting to leave the country to join ISIS.

After getting caught by the officers, she narrated her whole story of how she got into the ISIS. Many other girls were also identified after her Sonia Sebastian as Ayisha, Merrin Jacob as Mariyam, and Raffaela.

The real life boyfriend of Shalini, Rameez was also shown in the film. He impregnates Shalini and then leaves her alone then a local cleric marries her to an ISIS terrorist. As per the film and reports she is imprisoned in Afghanistan after her husband died in an attack.
