What to Expect Before a Cosmetic Surgery Procedure

It's difficult to remember every detail before you step, or roll, into the operating room because there's so much that goes into a successful surgical outcome.

While your surgeon will inform you about your specific procedure ahead of time, it's difficult not to be preoccupied with getting to the other side and seeing your transformation.

We asked Dr. Harikiran Chekuri, an excellent plastic surgeon from Hyderabad, to answer their most frequently requested preoperative questions to give us a breakdown of what to expect in general with any cosmetic surgery.

Dr. Harikiran Chekuri is a pioneer in hair transplantation, face surgery, and body surgery, the most popular surgical procedure.

He is a renowned plastic surgeon in Hyderabad, established the best Plastic Surgery Center in Hyderabad with the sole purpose of positively impacting people's lives.

Dr. Harikiran Chekuri is also listed as the best plastic surgeon by platforms such as Practo, Lybrate, Clinicspots, and Doctridunya.

What are some excellent approaches everyone should engage in before undergoing a procedure?

"Make sure that you talk to the doctor in detail as to what you want," says Dr.Harikiran Chekuri.

Among the most significant things that contribute to a good experience is being on the same page with your surgeon in terms of what to expect.

The doctors are well-versed in what they must convey to you. However, they might not precisely know what you're looking for.

"Any medicines that may contribute to reduced blood clotting and following bleeding should be stopped," says Dr. Harikiran Chekuri.

These include aspirin, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as ibuprofen, blood thinners such as Coumadin, Lovenox, and Xarelto, and herbals or supplements containing fish oil or turmeric.

We advise patients to quit taking all supplements and vitamins two weeks before surgery as you never understand what might be lurking in one.

"What should you look for when choosing a location for your surgery?"

Only a board-certified plastic, oculoplastic, or facial plastic surgeon should perform plastic surgery.

"I recommend a Medicare-certified outpatient surgery center," says Dr. Harikiran Chekuri, Hyderabad's best plastic surgeon. "I'd also look up the surgery center's online ratings as well as any consumer complaint websites."

It's also important to remember that, for the proper procedure, outpatient surgery centers are just as safe, if not safer, than hospital-based surgery centers.

"How long should a procedure take, and how long is too long to be in the operating room or under anesthesia?"

According to Dr. Harikiran Chekuri, procedures take varying amounts of time depending on the surgeon and the complexity and scope of the process.

"My general rule of thumb is that surgery under general or deep sedation should not last more than six hours." After six hours of surgery, the complication rate is higher."

After cosmetic surgery, how long should you expect to be recovering before returning to your routine?

It depends on the type of surgery you have, but Dr. Harikiran Chekuri, recommends waiting four to six weeks to feel completely normal again. He explains, "Recovery period for primary breast augmentation is on the more subordinate side."

"I want such patients back to routine the day following surgery, though they must refrain from exercising for a month."

It takes longer for a neck lift, in which I remove submandibular glands and subplatysmal fat. In that matter, the patient should expect three weeks of social downtime and six weeks of no leaning forward or working out."

What is the single most important thing a patient can do to aid in the healing process?

Dr. Harikiran Chekuri recommends "early walking, drinking plenty of water, taking a bromelain supplement, and remaining positive and happy." "Everything helps."

"The first and most important thing a patient can do to help with optimal recovery is to get in as good of shape as possible," says Dr. Harikiran Chekuri, a fantastic plastic surgeon from Hyderabad.

Eating well, not smoking, and getting plenty of exercises are essential aspects of a healthy lifestyle promoting healing. The second most important factor is that you adhere to our instructions.

Patients should drink at least 60 ounces of water per day and eat a diet rich in antioxidants and low in inflammatory foods, according to Dr. Harikiran Chekuri.

Finally, after surgery, things like hyperbaric oxygen, protein, and supplemental collagen shakes can be beneficial."
