He earned his engineering bachelor's degree from PSG College of Technology in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, in 2007. He graduated from the Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow, with a PGDM in Business. At PSG College of Technology, K. Annamalai held the position of secretary for the Samvedi Society and its management circle. While earning his post-graduate degree, he also worked as a student coordinator for his college's Character and Personality Club and the Abhiyan (Entrepreneurship Cell of IIM Lucknow).

K Annamalai, a Karnataka cadre officer who graduated in 2011 and is a native of Karur in Tamil Nadu, served the state for nine long years in a variety of positions.

K. Annamalai started his four-month Officer Training program at LBSNAA Mussoorie in Uttaranchal, India, in September 2011. He served as an officer trainee at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy from December 2011 to September 2013. He served in that capacity till December 2014 after being appointed as the Assistant Superintendent of Police of Karkala, Karnataka, India, in September 2013. In January 2015, he was then appointed as the Superintendent of Police of Udupi, Karnataka, India, where he worked till August 2016. 

He was hired as the Superintendent of Police in Chikmagalur, Karnataka, where he was transferred in August 2016. He worked in the Karnataka district of Chikmagalur until October 2018. He then worked as South Bangalore's Deputy Commissioner of Police from October 2018 until September 2019.

Politics

To better serve the people of the nation, former IPS K Annamalai left this prominent position in the police service in 2019 and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in 2020. Now he is the Tamil Nadu BJP vice-president of Tamil Nadu.

When some miscreants vandalized the Dattatreya Bababudan Swamy Darga in 2017, K Annamalai IPS organized a peace committee meeting in Bababudangiri and invited representatives of the Muslim and Hindu communities to discuss the mounting inter-communal conflict.
