The Bhavish Aggarwal-led team Ola recently reintroduced the Ola S1, the company's second electric scooter in India, at a low price. The company is now expected to launch a lower-cost electric scooter in the country before Diwali.
On October 22, Ola plans to launch a new variant of the Ola S1 in India. Bhavish Aggarwal, the company's chief executive officer, confirmed the launch.
In his tweet, Aggarwal stated that the October 22 launch will be "one of the biggest announcements ever from Ola."
According to Business Today, the new variant of the Ola S1 will be the cheapest offering in the lineup, costing less than 80,000 rupees. The current Ola S1 and Ola S1 Pro scooters cost $99,999 and $1,39,999, respectively.
The new Ola S1 will be one of the most affordable two-wheeler electric vehicles from a major brand.
"We have BIG plans for our launch event this month!" Will accelerate the #EndICEAge revolution by at least two years," tweeted Bhavish Aggarwal.
The majority of the features of the Ola S1 are expected to be carried over to the new Ola electric scooter. However, it is expected to have a smaller battery with a range of 100 kilometres on a single charge.
If the new Ola electric scooter costs less than 80,000, it will compete directly with popular two-wheelers like the Honda Activa 6G and the TVS Jupiter.
Furthermore, Ola is expected to release an update to the Move OS 3 with features such as hill hold control, hyper charging, key sharing, sounds, calling functionality, and more.
The company's teaser video, which shows an analogue dial, hints at custom speedometers. It also features RGB lights in the headlamp, which could be seen on the upcoming scooter.
