What we see in these dancers is not that they all had the same style; they did not. In ballet, we see great discipline and control; in tap, the focus is on rhythm; in flamenco, culture is very much a part of the performance; and in Bollywood and pop, we see a mix of many styles.
Certainly. Growing up in India, I was always drawn to the appeal of Bollywood dance, which can transform a regular movie sequence into a spectacular performance. Watching the likes of Prabhu Deva and Hrithik Roshan brings to light the great deal of work that goes into what appears to be ease and grace on screen.
In the end, it is the style which great dancers leave behind that we remember. It is that which is easy to identify, to feel, at times to try and reproduce, which they leave as their legacy in the world of dance, which continues past the end of the music.
