Karnataka’s capital city – Bengaluru a.k.a Bangalore is India’s IT capital & is known as the Silicon Valley of India. But what is hitherto unknown is that Karnataka is home to several tourist hotspots & is one of the most favorite travel destinations of travellers across the globe.

If you are a resident of north or east India, we would suggest you travel to Bangalore by flight. Flight tickets from Kolkata to Bangalore are easily available online & take 2 hours 35 mins to reach Bangalore.

We would suggest you spend at least two days in Bangalore. Apart from being the IT capital, Bangalore is also the pub capital of the country.  After savouring the mouth-watering masala dosas at CTR or a sumptuous meal at MTR, we would recommend you go pub hopping at MG road at night.

Bangalore is also home to several beautiful parks & gardens. It used to be know as the ‘garden city’ of India. Most famous among them is Cubbon Park.

Coorg

Any article based on traveling in Karnataka is incomplete without mentioning Coorg. Coorg is known as the Scotland of India.

Coorg is known for its coffee estates, waterfalls & misty mountains. Orange County - one of the most expensive luxury resorts in the country is in Coorg.

Wildlife enthusiasts must definitely pay a visit to Nagarhole National Park.

Hampi

Hampi an ancient village in Karnataka, is a UNESCO recognized world heritage site is renowned across the globe thanks its temples dating back to the Vijayanagara empire. Among the temples, Virupaksha temple on the banks of the river Tungabhadra is clearly our favorite. The temple’s architecture left us mesmerized, thanks to its beauty.

The riverside ruins are famous for its beauty & should not be missed. Monkey temple, archaeological museum  & Vijay Vittala temple are other destinations which should be on your itinerary.

Kabini is located on the banks of the river Kabini. It is one of the most recommend tourist spots in Karnataka.

Boating at Kabini river, visit to Kutta – which is home to coffee, spice plantations & visit to Kabini dam are must do’s during your stay at Kabini.

Mysore

Mysore Palace is a highly recommended for anybody traveling to Karnataka, especially during Dussehra. During Dussehra which happens in Oct-Nov, the whole palace is lit & the royal family too makes an appearance. For that one day, they are back to being royals & perform their ceremonial duties. Tourists from across Karnataka & the globe throng to Mysore for witness this marvelous spectacle.
