This young Bollywood heroine is once again catching the heat, after viewers brutally trolled her dance moves in a movie that has just been released. What was meant to be this glamorous, crowd-pleasing song has kind of turned into meme material across social media platforms, like overnight, almost. Industry insiders say that some in-house consultant who routinely advises a major studio boss on audience mood and branding has now told him, pretty directly, that he should seriously rethink casting the actress again and again in the big banner projects. It’s not only about one viral dance clip either. The studio’s image has already taken a hit, what with a run of underwhelming films and costly flops in the past few years. A lot of people in the industry also feel that the audience has started to not take the studio’s “manufactured star” plan that seriously anymore, honestly.
What has made matters worse is the blame game unfolding behind the scenes. Instead of accepting criticism gracefully, the actress is apparently pinning the entire fiasco on her choreographer and creative team. Sources say she has been privately complaining that the choreography made her look awkward on screen. Interestingly, her PR machinery has suddenly started circulating old clips and rehearsal videos of the choreographer online, subtly attempting to shift public criticism away from the actress herself. Bollywood insiders aren’t impressed. Several young actors and filmmakers reportedly feel that she survives largely because of powerful connections and relentless PR rather than genuine audience pull. Even within her own circle, there is growing panic about whether her “relatable bubbly girl” image has finally started wearing thin.
