Know About Cricketer Turned Singer Hardy Sandhu's Cricket Career

Few people know that singer-turned-actor Hardy Sandhu was once a promising cricketer who represented India U-19, sharing the dressing room with players like Shikhar Dhawan, Ishant Sharma, Cheteshwar Pujara, and Robin Uthappa.
Punjab Born Hardavinder Singh Sandhu, he also played for Punjab in the Ranji Trophy during the 2005-06 season. Sandhu made his First-class debut against Hyderabad and subsequently played matches against Uttar Pradesh and Baroda. As a right-arm fast-medium bowler, he took 12 wickets in three First-class games, with an average of 26, an economy rate of 3.35, and a strike rate of 46.5.
However, Sandhu's cricketing career came to an abrupt halt due to an elbow injury in 2006. Despite attempts to recover, his injury prevented him from continuing in the sport. Reflecting on his cricket days in a recent interview, Sandhu recalled sharing the dressing room with several Indian cricket stars. “I played for about ten years. I was part of the U-19 team with Shikhar Dhawan, who was my roommate. I also played with Cheteshwar Pujara and Ishant Sharma. But in 2006, I had an elbow injury on my right arm as a fast bowler. I tried getting treatment here, but nothing worked,” Sandhu shared.
In hopes of recovering, Sandhu moved to Australia to seek better medical care. “I went to Australia on a student visa, thinking if my treatment went well, I’d return to India and resume playing cricket. If not, I would have finished my studies and settled down somewhere. While I was there, I went to see more and more doctors. Still, nothing improved. “A few times I even drove a taxi for money,” he admitted.
In the end, the Hand of Fate had altered his course. Sandhu switched professions and treated music fans with his first composition, "Tequila Shot," followed by "Aashqui Te Loan," in the year 2012. He opened with a song in Bollywood for the second time in 2016 for Tum Bin II with "Ki Kariye Nachna Aaonda Nahi."
Singh made an acting debut in Abhay Chabbra’s Yaaran Da Ketchup (2014). He then starred in Gaurav Bavdankar’s Mahi NRI (2017) and appeared as Madan Lal in Kabir Khan’s cricket drama ’83.
